Jen-45-1I’m Jen Aiken, and welcome to my site Healthologie. If you’re new to the world of nutrition, fitness, and natural wellness, this page is for you! It includes the information you need to get started quickly and confidently!

 

Why Healthologie?

I have never been consistently good about making healthy choices. It is something I struggle with on a daily basis. But there was a time in my life where I had to make some changes, so I delved in deep and learned about how to get my health back. You can read more about my story here, but being sick so much at 30 years old was a turning point for me. It affected my social life, my career, my relationships, my quality of life. You may be at that point yourself, and need some guidance as to how to start. You may be a veteran at making healthy choices, and just looking to grow your knowledge more. Whatever the reason you are here, I am here to help. It is my desire to help you achieve whatever level of health you want.

There are three main reasons I started this site:

  1. To keep myself accountable for my own health and my family’s health.
    Like I said before, this is not something at which I am perfect, although the changes I have made have dramatically improved my life, I know I could fall back into my old choices. Soda. Fast food. Convenience over nutrition. I want to keep myself accountable.
  2. To help others with their health goals.
    I was in a bad place when I finally started looking for natural ways to heal myself. I thank God that I found the resources to do so, and I am so grateful to those who have posted the information that pointed me in the right direction. I still had a lot of trial and error to go through, and I want to help you have a path to take your own journey into health.
  3. To aid those who are in desperate need of assistance by donating 50% of this site’s profit.
    50% of all the profit from this site will go to helping people in individual countries get access to the things they need to be healthy. This means digging wells so people have access to clean water, sponsoring kids so they have enough food to eat and can get an education, helping individuals raise animals and have a way to sustain their family. I am blessed to have a my own successful graphic design company, JVO Design, and work on Healthologie on the side. I earn money from this site through affiliate links and my own products. That allows me to send 50% of the profits to those who need it most and the other 50% goes to paying for my health habit and growing the site.

How to Regain Your Health

Wondering how to get started? Here is what I recommend:

  1. Sign up for my Fit and Healthy Printable Planner for free. It will walk you through the basics and put you on a path to health in daily, simple steps.   2. Visit Resources to see the items, products and systems I use on a daily basis.
  3. Browse the articles on the blog. You can also search for topics that interest you. This site focuses on cleaning up your eating, adding a fitness regimen, improving body systems through oils and supplements, and reducing your stress.
  4. Stay strong! Look at my Motivation board on Pinterest whenever you feel like you are losing your commitment!
  5. Join the community. I have created a positive, inspiring, and encouraging community to help you meet your goals. We are in this together! You can engage by leaving comments, or joining us on Facebook or Pinterest!

Most of the time I try to follow a Paleo-style diet. I use doTERRA oils, and Beachbody products. I try to buy (or make) natural products and use natural remedies whenever I can. I am a big fan of these things, but I am not naive enough to think they are the only way to achieve health. So while I heartily recommend items, recipes, and products that fall into these categories, please feel free to do what works for you. In my experience, this is what works for me, but experiment, try things out, fail and try again.

Eat clean, organic unprocessed foods.
Drink plenty of water.
Sleep! You know you need your rest.
Get some exercise most days a week.
And supplement it with high quality vitamins and oils.

It is a process, but what is most important is finding something you can stick with for the rest of your life.

What is more important than your health? It is time to invest in yourself.

What to Expect

Let’s get rid of some limiting beliefs and set realistic expectations before we go any further.

1. Getting healthy is NOT easy and it requires hard work and commitment.
Most things in life are not easy. Getting on track with your health is no different. Many people out there will tell you that with just a simple program or easy 3 day cleanse, and on and on, you can get the results you want – no hard work required. Why? Because they’re trying to profit from giving you what you want to hear. And they may work at helping you lose weight…for a little while. But, is that the healthy way? And, if you are like me (guilty, I have tried them), you lose the weight and then gain it right back…or don’t even follow through in the first place. I’m here to tell you the truth: changing your habits, overcoming your addictions, and well, prevailing over laziness is hard. I’m going to do the best I can to help you get the information you need, but the rest is up to you. You are the one who has to COMMIT and ACT. What is more important than your health? It is time to invest in yourself.

2. Reaching your goals for weight, fitness, and/or health will NOT happen overnight.
It probably won’t even happen in 90 days, depending on where you are starting. (I know there are a lot of people who do it…I have seen the Beachbody photos and I am jealous of their commitment to change! But, for most of us, putting 90 days on our timeline can do more harm than good…it is too easy to slip up once and say, “Forget it.”) It has taken me over a year to get where I am now. And I still have more to go to reach my goals. But we are looking for progress, NOT perfection.  I love a quote by Chalene Johnson that says, “One workout at a time, one meal at a time, one day at a time.” That has been my mantra, and is what has finally gotten me to stick with it!

3. Reaching your goals for weight, fitness, and/ or health IS possible.
Not getting sick all the time, not hurting all the time, raising healthy kids…these were just a dream for me until I got serious about my health. That is when I finaally decided enough was enough and got serious about getting healthy. With no other options, I bet on myself by trying to make my dream a reality. And you know what? The dream came true, and it’s totally awesome! I haven’t been on antibiotics in well over 18 months and counting (which is a miracle if you know my story) and I am much fitter and healthier than I used to be. I play basketball with the kids, go for a walk without my legs giving out, breathe clearly and easily, and have so much more self-confidence. This healthy lifestyle IS possible, and I would love for you to experience it too.
