I am excited that you are here! Let me take a moment to introduce myself. My name is Jen Aiken, and over the last few years, I have become very passionate about health, nutrition, and fitness. Unfortunately, this has not always been the case, and it took a series of health setbacks to steer me in the right direction. I was constantly sick with sinus infections, kidney stones, UTI, staph, PMDD and several other problems. The final straw broke when I was on antibiotics 8 times in 6 months. Finally, I decided to do something about it besides go to the doctor for more pills. That obviously wasn’t working. Now, a year and a half later, I can say I haven’t been on antibiotics since, and overall my family and I are much healthier and feel better. We still have a long way to go, but I am constantly trying to improve our health. You can check out more of our health journey on My Story.
I started this site because I am so grateful for the sites I found on my journey, and wanted to give back like they had done. If I can help any of you feel better or turn your health around, I am happy. Your health is so important, and I took mine for granted for a long time. I am not a doctor, but through lots of research and trial and error, I have found things that work, and I will be sharing those with you.
If you are new to natural health, Start Here is a great place to begin. Trying to do everything perfectly right away is a great way to get overwhelmed and quit, so I suggest just taking one aspect, and focus on it, get it down, and then move on to the next. If you are an “all in” kind of person, by all means, go for it! But for me, after trying it many times all at once, the only thing that has worked for me is to use baby steps. Even if you are going two steps forward and one step back, you are still heading in the right direction. And, you can always check out my Motivation board on Pinterest.
For me, the first step was fitness. I am a Beachbody coach and love to tackle their programs. I get so excited marking days off on the calendar and get to feel proud of accomplishing a difficult task. But while it is important to be active, the food you eat will make much more of an impact on your overall health than working out. This is something I still am working on. I would recommend making food changes first for the biggest impact, but really just pick something and start. Your body will thank you for it!
Speaking of fitness, I am starting a new program on January 4, 2016. It is called The Master’s Hammer and Chisel. It even comes with portion control guides for your food so that you really see results. Feel free to join me and we can keep each other motivated!
